Boating Experience

From 2004 until present he has been working in the Algarve as a charter skipper on many different types of yachts, motor and sail, taking families and groups out for day trips and longer. Beneteau, Sun Oddesy, Bavaria, Sunseeker, Fairline, Cranchi, Maxum, Quicksilver, Mastercraft, Regal, Four Wins, Cobalt and many other others.

From 2006 he has been working as an RYA instructor for Sail, Motor Cruising and Powerboats, opening his own school Algarve Boat Courses in 2010. “I have delivered many courses on a variety of school boats and owner vessels. My area of special expertise is teaching people from scratch, ensuring they have a fun introduction to boating while learning in a safe environment.” He also really enjoys helping existing skippers to improve their skills on their own boats and introducing them to the Algarve, it's many beaches and good places to visit.

Rob has been sailing from the age of 15, taking part in the racing and cruising scene in Ireland. Competing on a Hunter Impala “Wild Mustard” for 4 years they were East Coast Champions twice, Howth Autumn league winners, Cork week winners and won many regattas in Dublin Bay.

Prior to 2004 he has over 8,500 cruising miles logged mainly around Ireland and the UK, France and the High Arctic. His longest passage to date is 1,003 miles from Dublin to Akureyri, Iceland. Rob has delivered many boats and always ensure that the vessel has arrived safely with minimum wear and tear.

We have stepped aboard all the boats in our “fleet” and will give you an honest assessment of their condition and suitability. In addition our staff will usually be sailing with you so we take you from the idea stage right through to delivery, ensuring that any special requests are met on the day.
